PASSWORDS

How do I change or reset my password or email address? Click on the "My Settings" link, then click "Change" next to the password field. If you forget your password you can reset it anywhere you would sign in. Just click the "Forgot your password?" link. You'll receive an email in a few minutes containing a link that will allow you to reset your password.

SETTING UP YOUR PAGE

Can I change the layout of my page?

Everyone has the same basic layout. You can alter the look of it using color, images, music, backgrounds by clicking on Edit the Appearance link. The only way to alter the layout or move things around is to use a Cascading Style Sheet or CSS code in the 'Edit Page Appearance' section under the main navigation tabs at the top.

How do I change my ‘About Me’ Text? Go to My Settings on the right side of My Page. You should be on the Account page. Click on About Me and change your text.

To Change Your Privacy Settings (who can see your page items) :Go to My Settings on the right side of My Page. You should be on the Account page. Click on Privacy and change your settings

To Change the Email Notifications You Receive: Go to My Settings on the right side of My Page. You should be on the Account page. Click on Email and change your settings.

People are spamming me. What should I do? If someone is sending you spam, the first thing to do is to block that person from sending you messages. You can do this by clicking on the Envelope icon at the very top of your page. Find the spam message in your inbox and click the link underneath that says "Block messages from this person." You will not receive messages from this person any more. The next thing to do is to let us know. Spamming is against the network’s Terms of Service, and we'll disable the accounts of anyone sending spam.

PHOTOS

How do I add photos? You can add photos by clicking on the Photos tab that appears at the top of your social network. You can upload them from your computer, mobile phone or email account.

How do I change my photo? To change your photo, go to ‘My Settings’ on the right side of ‘My Page’. You should end up on the ‘Account’ page. In ‘My Details’ under your name is a tiny little photo of you next to ‘Your Photo’. Click on the blue and green box next to that tiny image. A dropdown box appears. You have the option of using the current image or uploading a new one. Click Browse to upload. Be sure to click ‘Done’ when you’re finished, then click Save at the bottom of the page.

How do I rate a photo? If you see an awesome - or bad - photo, let people know by rating it! In the toolbar to the right of the photo on the photo detail page, click the "Rate" button. Then give the photo a rating between one and five stars and you will see your rating reflected below. Your rating remains anonymous, so you can be honest. If you change your mind, you can always return to the photo detail page and click the Rate button to change your rating for the photo!

To send in Photos from your phone or email client: When you join the Happy Home club, a unique email address is assigned to your profile. You can email photos or videos, one at a time, to this email address and they will be added to your account on the network. To view your email-in address, click on the "Privacy & Email Settings" link on the right side of any page. Click the Email tab. Find the section called "Add Photos and Videos by Email." You'll find your email address for adding photos and videos by email in this section.

How do I delete a photo? To delete a photo, go to that photo's detail page. In the toolbar to the right of the photo, locate the red X with a link to "Delete Photo." Click on this link. How do I create an album? You can do this by clicking on "My Albums" and then clicking on "Create an Album." From there, you're able to drag photos from the network you're on to the album preview pane on the right side of the page. You can choose the specific order of the photos. Once you've done this, click "save" to see your final product.

How do I change the order photos show up in a slideshow? The best way to change the order of photos in a slideshow is to put them in an album. You can do this by clicking on "My Albums" and then clicking on "Create an Album." On the Create an Album page, you can choose which photos you'd like in your album and specify their order. Once you've done this, click "Save" to see your final product. On the lower right side of the page, a mini slideshow will be playing. Click "View this slideshow" to see it full screen. You can also click the Embed button to get code to put this slideshow on your blog or MySpace page.

How do I report an offensive photo? When you're signed in, click "Report an Issue," which appears as a link at the bottom of every network page. This will alert the Network Creator to the offensive photo.

How do I add a description to a photo? When you upload photos to a network, you have the option to add a title and a description to your photo. You cannot edit someone else's photo and give it a description; however you can leave a comment. If you put another member's photo in an album, you can't change the title or description.

TAGS What are tags? Tags are a great way to categorize discussions, photos, and videos by their content. For example, if you start a discussion thread about your favorite summer vacation spots, you may want to tag it as "summer," "vacation" and "suggestions." You can mark an item with as many different tags as you want by clicking the "Tag" button in the toolbar next to the post on the item's detail page. You can delete a tag the same way.

FORUMS

How can I start a forum discussion? To start a thread, click on the Forum tab and then on the "Start a New Discussion" link.

Can I edit or delete a discussion I started? Yes! To edit, click on the discussion you would like to edit. Locate the "About Your Discussion" section in the middle column and click the "Edit Discussion" link.

Can I delete a reply I've made to a forum post? Yes, you can delete your reply to a discussion at any time by clicking the "Delete Reply" link below the post you want to remove. If you want to delete a discussion you started, and all replies to it, go to that discussion's detail page and click the link to "Delete Discussion" next to the red "X."

How do I add a hyperlink to my forum post? To insert a link, highlight the text you want to be linked and click the "Insert a Link" icon, which looks like a chain linking across a globe, in the toolbar. In the box that pops up type the URL you want the text to link to. Once you save your discussion post or reply, anyone can use the link.

How do I add an image to my forum post? You can insert an image to your post by clicking the "Add a Photo" button, which looks like a framed picture, in the toolbar. A window will appear prompting you to select a photo from your computer to upload. Once you've found the image you want, click the "Add" button.

Can I reply to someone's discussion? Can I reply specifically to someone's reply? If you are a member of the network, yes. Start typing in the "Reply to This" box under the discussion you want to reply to. To reply to a specific reply, instead of using the "Reply to This" text box that appears under the discussion starter, click the link to "Reply to This" under the specific post you want to reply to. Your post will be linked to that reply.

FRIENDS

How do I invite someone to be my friend? Click the Members and search for the person you want to be your friend. Go to their profile by clicking on their name, and click the "Add as friend" link under the person's profile photo.

How do I see all my friends? Click the My Friends tab at the top of the page to see everyone you are friends. Go to your My Page tab. Locate the "My Friends" box and click the "View All" link.

How do I block someone from my friends list? If you'd like to block someone from your friends list: Go to the My Friends tab. Locate the person you want to block and click on their profile photo. Finally, click the "Block" link under their profile photo.

I accidentally blocked someone from sending me messages. Is there a way to unblock them? Absolutely! If you'd like to unblock someone from your friends list: Locate the Friend icon. Click on the Blocked tab. Finally, click the "Unblock" link under their profile photo. This person will now be able to contact you!

How do I withdraw a friend request? If you asked someone to be your friend but you want to remove the request, click on the Friend icon, Click on "Sent" on the left side of the page. Click the "Withdraw" link under the person you no longer want to invite to be your friend.

If I reject a friend request will the requester be notified? No, if you reject a friend request the person who sent you the request will not be notified. You don't have to worry about hurting their feelings!

SENDING AND RECEIVING MESSAGES

To change the Email Notifications you receive: Go to My Settings on the right side of My Page. You should be on the Account page. Click on Email and change your settings.

Who can send me messages? To protect your privacy, only your friends and certain members of social networks you belong to can send you messages. If you're a member of a the Happy Home club, the Network Creator and Administrators can send you messages and you can message them back. Further, if you belong to any groups, the Group Creator and Admins can get in touch with you. In order to send another member of a network a message, you'll need to ask them to be your friend first.

How do I check my messages? Click on My Friends tab, then click on the Send Messages to Friends link above the photos of your friends. A dialogue box will appear that gives you the option of sending a message to all friends or just those you choose. Hit Send to send the message.

ADDING WIDGETS/GADGETS

How do I add a Gadget to My Page on a network? Choose the Gadget you want to add to your Profile page, copy the URL, and paste it into your Gadget feature box.

I see a Gadget I like. How can I add it to My Page? If you see a Gadget on the main page or on someone else's member page of a network you're logged in to, you can add that Gadget to your My Page on that network very easily. Simply click the link at the bottom of the Gadget box to "Add this Gadget to your profile."

My Gadget is not working or is displaying an error messsage! What do I do? OpenSocial Gadgets are still a very new technology and many of the Gadgets available are being developed by other organizations. The Gadget feature is beta or in test-mode. If you're experiencing an issue or observing an error message please click on the edit button in the upper right corner of the Gadgets feature and remove the URL of the gadget. This will clear it from your page.

SETTING UP GROUPS

How do I create a group? Go to Groups tab. 1. Click the link on the left side of the page to "Create a new group" on that network. 2. You must choose a group name and group web address. You may also want to write a short description of that group or upload a logo for the group's page - information other network members will see when browsing groups. 3. Make sure to select the correct privacy option for your group, because once a group is created you can't change the privacy setting. 4. Finally, click "Create Group" and start inviting network members to your group!

How do I edit my group name, logo, or description? If you want to edit a group you created, go to that group's page. You can edit the group's text box, adding text, videos, photos, or widgets to customize your group page. Under the logo and description of your group, there is a link to "Edit This Group's Info." You can change the name, description, and logo of your group, as well as editing information about your external website.

Can groups be private? Absolutely. Groups can be public (any member of the Happy Home club can see the group and post content) or private (only invited network members can see the group and post content). This option is chosen during the setup process, which can be started by clicking on the Groups tab and choosing the "Create a New Group" option.

Can I ban someone from my group? Yes. Go to your group's page and select "Manage Group Members" on the left column under the group's logo and description. Check the box next to the name of the person you wish to ban, and click the "Ban from Group" button. How do I join a group? Go to the Groups tab. There will be a link on the left column of the group's page to join. If the group is private, you can send a request for an invitation to the group creator from the group's page.

Who can I invite to be in my group? You can invite anyone by email address to be in your group. They'll have to join the Happy Home club, if they haven't already done so!

How do I delete a group? You can only delete a group if you are the group's creator. On the group's page, click the "Edit This Group's Info" link in the left column under the group logo and description. Select the "Delete Group" button in the bottom right of the group info box. You will be asked to confirm your decision. Click "Delete" and wait as your group and all of its content is deleted.

How can I participate in a group's discussion? Do I have to be a member of the group? To participate in a group's discussion, you have to be a member of that group. Once you are a member, click on the "Start Discussion" link to start a thread, or simply reply to an existing thread.

Can I post photos, videos, or music to a group? Right now, groups don't have their own photo, video, or music sections. You can, however, attach or embed photos to a forum post or add them to the group's text box. You can also embed music players from another network and videos into the group's text box or in a discussion.

How can I start a discussion in my group's forum? To start a thread, go to the group's page and then click the "Start a New Discussion" link.

Can I send messages to my group's members? Yes, any member of a group can broadcast a message to that group. Go to the group's page and click "Send message to group."

Do discussions within a Group Forum appear in the Network Forum? Nope! Group discussions are contained entirely within that group, and don't appear alongside Network Forum discussions.

How can I see all the members of a group? On the group's page, there will be a section in the left column containing the group's members. Click "View all" on the bottom left of this box to see all the group's members.

Is there a limit to the number of groups I can create on my network? There's no hard limit to the number of groups you can create within a given network. So create away!

What are the group privacy options? Can I change them? Groups can either be open to anyone or open only to people invited to the group. Once a group is created, you cannot change its privacy setting.

Can I change a group from public to private or vice versa after it's been created? Unfortunately, no. However, you can always delete the group and create a new one with a different privacy setting.

Can people be invited to my group by others? If you left your group open to anyone, any group member can invite others to join. If your group is private but you added group administrators, they can invite more people to join your group.

Can people join my group if I don't invite them? It depends on your privacy setting. When you created your group, if you left your group open to anyone, the default privacy setting, people don't have to be invited to your group to join it. If you chose the invite-only option, people can only join your group if they are invited to join by you or your group's administrators.

Can I subscribe to a group's forum posts? Yes. Go to that group's page and click on the RSS link at the bottom of the forum section.

INVITING FRIENDS

How many invitations can I send? You can invite as many people as you'd like, as long as you know their email addresses! I sent invitations to my friends but they say they haven't received them. What should I do? It's possible that your invitations were flagged as spam. Please ask your friends to check their spam folders. If the invitations aren't in there, try sending them once more.

SPAM

People are spamming me. What should I do? If someone is sending you spam, the first thing to do is to block that person from sending you messages. ADD YOUR HAPPY HOME CLUB BADGE TO YOUR OUAF WEBSITE

  1. 1. In the bottom of the right column on your My Page, click on ‘Get Code’ or ‘Get More Badges’ under the Happy Home Club Badge
  2. 2. On the next page, click on ‘Get HTML Code’ for the badge you want. It will load to your clipboard.
  3. 3. Go to your OUAF site and login to the workstation.
  4. 4. Click the ‘My Profile’ link at the top; scroll to the bottom and click on ‘Personalize My Site’
  5. 5. In the section where you type text, right under the words Welcome Message click on the box that says Source. You will see the basic HTML code for your text.
  6. 6. Right click on your mouse and paste the contents of your clipboard at the top or the bottom of the text.
  7. 7. Scroll to the bottom and click on Update Your Site.
