OK, I LOVE to plan parties around themes. So far I have done Butterflys, Ladybug, Anything with wheels, A Sweetheart party, Tea Pary, The Movie CARS and this Sunday we are throwing a huge Curious George party for both the kids. Let's hear some other great themed parties?????

We always to a fun theme for Angelesa's birthday. You will see in my photos a picture of Angelesa's 7th birthday party. We did a Bratz-Cheetahlicous (sp? lol) Makeover. I made DVD invitations. They were awesome, I have to say LOL - we had 16 girls get makeovers. There was a fashion show, games like pass the lip gloss, 2 baskets of each end of the room with dress up stuff - the girls would walk in a circle until the music stopped and grab 1 item and put it on, we did this over and over until every thing was used up. Then took a picture of each girl with a background I made. You can see it in the picture :) Then we took a group pic (which is the pic I have posted) :)

I will share more later if I can :)

Hi Mary!
I just loved your idea! My six year old, Lindsey, is a Bratz-Cheeta-Hannah little fiend!
If I share this idea with her now.....I doubt she will be able to wait until next June. I will just have to keep in my memory bank for now. Thanks for your creativity! You are awesome!

We just planned a great one for Lexie this year, I think! The website is www.Cheermania.org. A friend of mine recomemended Michelle. They were both Laker Girl's. So she has the girls learn a routine, get dressed up in one of her themed cheer outfits, (including USC & UCLA) get thier hair & make up done, as well as do a craft. Then they put on a big show for us parents at the end. The Birthday girl is the Team Captain.

Last year we did a Circus party with carnival games and a popcorn machine. We tented the yard and put canival tickets in the invitations. I bought clown noses for all of the little ones....but forgot to put them on for the big photo op!!!!!

Amazingmoms.com is a good reference site. Cheermania.org is the other site we used.

One girlfriend and I throw a luau every summer at my house, complete with inflatable palm trees, floating candles in the pool, fresh cut pineapple and drink umbrellas in all the mixed drinks, kabobs on the grill, etc. This year for invites we made fake airline tickets with the party info on them and the little ticket holder folder like you get at the airport, with a pretty ALOHA flowery thing on the front. It turned out super cute. I've also done a carnival themed birthday party, with different games like ring toss, the game where you pull out the ducks from the water and look on the bottom to see what prize you get, etc. For that one I made a cake with rubber duckies on top. It was pretty cute. I did a Blue's Clues theme one year, I think for my son's second birthday, and I drew all of the characters lifesize on posterboard and had them hanging everywhere. And I had the pawprints all over to send the kids looking for "blue's clues" to find their goody bags. I love throwing parties. My girlfriend and I do an annual Christmas party, also, and we do a LOT of decorating for that - typically we turn my front porch into a winter wonderland with the cotton batting for snow and a giant chair for Santa to sit in (there is always someone who plays Santa for us and brings the kids something from their wish list). Right now that same girlfriend and I are in the midst of planning a first birthday party for our puppies, who were born a week apart. We're having it at a local dog park and will have personalized treat jars for all the doggie guests. lol. We're super cheesy but it's fun. ;)

Oh man Beth!!!!!!! You are who I want to be (he he). I really love themed parties. I try to go simple because of the work but it always ends up being a big deal. Everyone still talkes about my Ladybug party with Ladybug dancing, games, tents, cakes, a book about a lady bug learning to fly ending with 5000 live lady bugs and all 30 of the kids got their own take home lady bug cages for them. For the cars themed party we had a "car wash" optical course, their favorite part were the foam bubbles. Today for our curious George party we played some classics but their favorite was the monkey scavenger hunt. We pull off pretty good parties but what you have described... you get a gold medal!

lol, thanks for the gold medal. ;) We actually have talked about starting a party planning business, but we want to take some cooking/catering classes first. We are super into the menu, too, and always have tons of yummy hors douvres and print up menus in a pretty script font and stick them in gold frames, etc. It's a lot of fun. =)

A couple of years ago we did a Mock-Sleepover party for my daughter. Everyone came over in jammies with their pillows and blankets. We ate popcorn and watched a movie. And then of course presents and cake. They had a great time and then I got to send them home when the movie was over!

This Friday we are having a Speed racer Bar-B-Q for my son who is turning 4. One of the cute things we will do is have the kids make their own speed racer dessert. They will spread frosting on a Twinkie, use circle chocolate covered pretzels for wheels and thin twizlers to make the red "m" shape on top of the car.

Hi Michelle! YAY! Another theme party addict! We did an olympic theme for Lindsey's 5th birthday. We held it at a gymnastic club here in Fargo. The kids got to tumble around for about an hour and then we had treats. The cupcakes were decorated with red/white/blue sprinkles and topped with silver "sparkler-like" mini cake toppers. I found these at a cake decorating store. The goodie bags included chocolate coins (I got lucky and found different country coins), a gold medal to wear around their necks and mini trophies. Each trophy had "WORLD CLASS FRIEND" stamped on the front. I printed these labels from our computer. Oh yeah.....the invites had a little child tumbling on the front....and it read "Let's get ready to Tumble" Denise. WOW! Our party seems "mild" compared to some of your other postings! Awesome ideas! There are certainly some creative mommies on this site! :)

I too love theme parties; My favorite is the Dress Up Tea Party with their favorite lovies. Grace had one for her 3rd and wanted it again for her 5th. I know it has been done a million times, but it is so cute to see all the little girls dressed up pretending to drink apple tea. I made invitations in the shape of a Tea Cup and they had to pull the tea bag out to view the invitation. The thank you notes were tea/coffee pots that said 'Thanks a Latte'. We played 'Pin the Spout on the Teapot'. My husband made the game. I had the tea table made up with little individual china tea sets with peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches. I personalized all the crowns with their names and we ended the party with a story 'Mrs Spider's Tea Party'. Grace loved it!

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
