I am so proud, I just have to share!

I am so proud of my daughter...I just had to share this with all you ladies! I was working on the Live, Laugh, Love Club Lesson on Joy and here is my story...

Last week Morgan had full days at school, so I had to pack her a lunch everyday. I wrote her a note on her napkin each day as I packed her lunch and she told me how much she loved reading them! (She is just learning to read, so it was a challenge for her some days, but I kept it simple.)

Anyway, on Friday, she had the day she started spring break, so she didn't have school, but I had an expo that I had to be at all day. While I was loading up my car, she handed me a bag and said she made me a lunch. It was so sweet! She can't really do too many things on her own, but she made a turkey and cheese sandwich for me, put in an apple, carrots, granola bar and a juice box....but my FAVORITE was the note that she wrote me. It's said "I love you Mommy! Love, Morgan" It was so sweet, I teared up as I read it. Truly a moment of the JOY of motherhood for me.

I love your story. These are the best moments in life, when you see the things you do and teach coming back through your children. It's so true, what you do is what they will learn to do. Great job you are doing with her. Lorle

Amanda, that is so precious. My daughter is 33 and she still acts like that. I left for work this morning and she was asleep. She works graveyard. I couldn’t of been at work maybe an hour when my personal extension rang (109) and I answered “This is Trish” She said “Why didn’t you kiss me by and tell me you love me before you left?” I told her because I didn’t want to wake her up. She said to me, I love you mommy. Ahh isn’t that still sweet after so many years. She will call me in the middle of the day and say “I miss you and I just wanted to say I love you.” Sooo Sweeet!

That joy chart is soooo awesome! It transforms our household. I am in love with Morgan making you a lunch for your expo. Just goes to show you that our actions are the best modle and has the most impact on our kids, just talking about it is not enough. My daughter, 5 yrs, is really into making me cards lately. I sometimes will find 20 in one day. My favorites are the ones with me and her in a heart. The cards really bring me joy and she knows it. The joy chart has really brought to all of our attentions what brings each other joy in a day.

Those are the moments that are so precious and you will remember forever, how beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your moment with all of us. Gives me hope. My daughter is 10 and I am not so lucky with how she treats me lately. She is going through this phase and she has major mood swings. It has been like a roller coaster, she turns on me in an instant and will become very nasty, it's really awful. I just keep showing her how much I love her and that I am here for her. Sometimes I feel as though she does not appreciate me and is ungrateful for all the things I do for her. And believe me, everything I do is for her, but I do it because I want to, not because I have to and she doesn't see that. I am starting to think that I do too much and maybe I should back off a little so that she can recognize it. Well, thanks for listening everyone who read this. I welcome any suggestions or feedback if anyone out there is experiencing anything like this. Thanks so much!

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
