Family Nurturer slightly edged out Family Organizer in my Happyhome personality test. Both of which I can identify with. In my role as a nurturer, I don’t always feel I always know what to say, but I do try and let that person know that I am thinking about them and would be happy to help in any way I can. My brother recently was promoted to Colonel in the Air Force. He is stationed with his family in Germany and we were unable to attend the ceremony. I sent out emails to family, friends and classmates and asked them to write a note to my brother. I put them all in a journal and my parents delivered it for me. Even though I couldn’t be there, I wanted him to know we were proud and wanted to help celebrate his accomplishment. As the family organizer, I am the one that makes sure birthday and Christmas cards get out, presents get purchased and wrapped and events are put on the calendar. I like to know what is going on and I try to keep our family on track. I have been a member of a Live Love Laugh club for almost two years and truly enjoy it. Once Upon A Family has given me so many wonderful ideas that I try and incorporate in our family like the family trivia game and letters to my dear sweet child. I enjoyed reading Happyhome and I am working on instilling the wonderful habits and tradition ideas to enrich our family. ~ Mia
I am the family nurturer with hero a close 2nd. My oldest son is in the Marine Corps and was away from his bride on their first Valentine's Day. He called me at our home after midnight, worried because he was not able to reach her on her cell. Dealing with a 3 hour time difference and him being at a pay phone, I tried to track her down. After about an hour with help from the local police department we found out that her cell phone was broken and she was using a friend's phone. Cold and sleepy, but happy with the outcome, I snapped a picture of all of the post it notes on my table thinking 'someday this will be the story of how daddy and grandma couldn't find mommy'. My grandson is less than a year old but I look forward to telling him this story.

Joy,
Your grandson is adorable...and congratulations!!! Do you have anything special planned to do for him yet that you weren't able to do with your own kids because you were too busy? Thanks for sharing the story!! I look forward to hearing more from you in the weeks to come!

Mia,

I'm an organizer too! Hooray for another Military family!! I'm an Army Wife and my husband is currently deployed. I too like to organize and am the one in charge of everything from bills to Christmas presents to remembering birthdays. My husband would be lost without me. :) How old is your little one? I look forward to getting to know you more through the challenge! Good luck! :D

I am confused! I read the description but where do I take the personality test? Is it online? DO I need to order and recieve the book before i can go any further on the 'getting started'?
I scored very high on the Family Educator and very low on the Family Fun Manager. I asked my husband the questions and he was the exact opposite, very high on the Family Fun Manager and very low on the Family Educator-I guess that's why we're a good match! We both agreed that these descriptions absolutely fit our personalities. Can't wait to use this info to build a stronger, happier family.
Pam, any examples for us on how you are the family educator? And any pictures of you and your family? Good luck with the challenge this fall! :D

I'm the Family Nurturer and I gotta tell you, that doesn't come as a shock! I love knowing my children are taken care of and they know I'm always there if they need me for anything. My husband and I prayed for years to be parents and after almost 5 years, we were blessed to adopt twin daughters. Two years after that, WHAM!, I got pregnant with our first son. Then, two years later, a second son came along. All that time we were praying and wondering what we'd done wrong, God was just waiting...waiting for my girls to be born...waiting for me to be patient...waiting to bless us with a miracle. Now, I'm what I've always wanted to be, a mommy X 4, and nurturing my little ones is the best job out there. Ask me if I still feel that way when the girls are arguing, my son is begging for more juice, and I'm knee deep in a "special" diaper!
Oh...and yes, that is my daughter showing passers by her yellow candy...nice.
Congratulations on your beautiful family!!! I think most parents know just how valuable the lives of our children can be and feel blessed most days that we have our little bundles to nurture and care for! I can't wait to hear more from you in the coming weeks!! Good luck!

41 for Thanksgiving? Holy cow!!! I hope you'll take some pictures to share with us! Good luck on the planning fellow Organizer. :)
I'm taking the challenge again for the second time. I just took my quiz and came out with a different personality! :) This time I'm the Family Hero. The Family Hero wants to create a legacy and that is definitely me! I've been mailing out monthly questions for my grandmother to answer in a journal I purchased for her birthday. I want her to write these things down so that we can all cherish them when she passes. I've also started my own journal which I attempt to write in everyday. I also try my very best to keep up with Lily's baby calendar because I know she'll treasure it when she finally starts her own family. I'm giving my mother and mother-in-law each a photo album of Lily throughout her first year, eventually that will come back to me and Lily and we can cherish it together. I'm also giving my in-laws each their own big leather album to fill with pictures from the previous year. I'm hoping they'll fill them up as to leave their own little legacy.

Oh and the picture is me carving our first Family pumpkin for this year. I'm going to make it a Tradition that we carve one with a "C" every year.

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
