Hello! I'm Sandra and I'm a Family Organizer (chuckle). This makes sense since I am a type A control freak. I am certainly the Family Organizer for my own family (me, hubby, son), but not so much for MY family. I am the youngest of 4 kids. Although I definitely try to boss others around and force people to do things my way, I have other "organizers" to compete with. My eldest sister in particular is crafty, thoughtful, time-oriented, and an excellent communicator. For this reason, she often gets things organized for us. My parents are the hub of all family activity including that of their extended families. They often house travelers and foot the bill for everyone involved. For this reason, I take a back seat to their organization ideas. Because there are so many highly qualified Family Organizers in my family, I am mostly a co-organizer; this is due to circumstance. I would like to grow more in the other areas. We will have to see where the upcoming months take us!
Hooray! So glad you've decided to do the challenge this season! You're 1/6th of the way there! *wink*

I look forward to reading more about you in the future!!!

(I wanted red and black for my wedding too. My father said "no" lol)

I chose this picture, because it shows our family in action...From left to right, Bill is reliable and making sure that the boys are where they should be. Ben is joining the group just in time to not get in trouble. Karen is sitting waiting until everyone else gets their emotions in check. Tony is listening and trying to follow direction. Dad is explaining something, in detail, with visuals. I am losing all sense of reality with my emotional overload (poor Christopher), and it looks like I pissed R.J. off. I remember, I did. You are trying to fix something (a boutonnière maybe?), and Mom had volunteered to wrangle the youngest child.
The test identified me as the Family Nurturer. My daughter is in kindergarten and I've loved putting notes in her lunch. Last night, she asked if we could write one together. So we wrote a letter about flowers. Not only is it a great way to let her know I'm thinking of her during the day, but it's a great way to increase her reading and writing skills.

I love to bake with my kids, and they help me package up our treats to share with friends, teachers and neighbors. Here’s a photo of the cake we made on Father’s Day for my husband.

So I took the test and I am a manager; with organizer and educator right behind that. So this past week we organized a play date with the cousin and photos for the whole family(photos attached). They turned out very nice. We also set-up our grateful trees to display our "leaves of gratefulness". Oh, can't forget mom scheduled cookie day, and sewing day to make skirts for Christmas. My daughter is is 4-H sewing so she is excited to keep doing projects throughout the year. I think I will let her try to make her own twirly girl skirt. On to the next challenge...this is awesome but a CHALLENGE since we homeschool too.

My answers were tied at Family Hero then Family Nurturer. These both are completely me. Growing up pretty much as second parent in my family, someone had to keep it together for everyone. I find I still do this, even with my adult mother and stepfather. I'm also the one my friends and family always come to for support, solutions and cheering up. I guess this explains my path towards a psychology degree. It's so funny because that need to make a difference is so strong, I'm always looking for ways to help out, make our communities closer and more friendly and just generally be the hero i guess. Now that I have a son, I can't wait to show him how important to this world he will be, and begin our new traditions.

I was actually a bit surprised that my score for Nurturer was far and away the highest! On the other hand, I guess it's right and fittin' - I'm all about love and kindness - "it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!" The greatest goal I have for any and all of my four children is simply to be happy - and I do whatever it takes to help make that happen, sometimes to a fault - it's also important that they learn (my next highest score is Educator) that they can't always have the world work out the way they want it - therefore, "it's not what happens, it's how you choose to deal with it." However, they also always will have me there to catch them when they fall. Hugs and kisses, lullabies and bedtime stories, backrubs and chicken noodle soup - to provide that safe haven, that warm, homey space , with all that as a foundation, they will be free to be all that they dream :o)

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
