I would love to hear what your favorite Thanksgiving memory is from when you were a child. I remember heading out to my aunt's house who lived 1 hour from us. My Aunt, Uncle and cousins lived in the country (middle of nowhere) and we would travel out to their home for Thanksgiving. We would have so much fun. We woud head out early in the morning and spend the entire day there, often spending the night. We would watch the parades and then play outside (usually football or softball), we would play pinnochle (spelling) or uchre for hours or we would play in the snow if we were lucky enough to have snow for Thanksgiving. If there was snow, we would snowmobile on their 175 acres. We would then sit down for a dinner which everyone helped prepare: the kids in the kitchen and the adults in the diningroom. What a great time we had of laughing and sharing stories. Afterwards, we would clean up and then sit around the piano while my uncle would play guitar, my cousin would play the piano and we would all sing along when we knew the songs my uncle would sing. After a few years, we would learn most of the songs. We would then crash anywhere in the house that we could find space. The next day we would have a huge breakfast and then play some more before heading home. I loved those days and wish we still did those things. Now we are starting our own traditions with our childrem

Please share your favorite childhood memories about Thanksgiving!

My thanksgiving childhood memories all revolve around the food. lol It was just so wonderful sitting down to a table with my whole family because we didn't do it very often. It's tradition to say tell God what we're thankful for before we eat, we switch off on who says Grace. After we ate we'd usually break out the Christmas goodies and put up the tree. We had a local radio station that played Christmas music 24/7 from Thanksgiving until Christmas and we'd turn that on and trim the tree.

This year I'm going to present the namecard booklets from the new 5 in 1 program and the Thankful leaves. We're all adults except for my daughter, who is 10 months, and I know they'll all think its corny but I hope they'll keep the tradition going so that Lily will have something to look forward to on Thanksgiving. :)

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
