I found this cool, easy recipe for donut day....I plan to try it with the kids for that day.

10-minute Doughnuts
Ingredients:
Pillsbury biscuit dough (not Buttermilk)
cooking oil (enough to float the dough on)
sugar
metal bottle cap (for making holes)

Directions: Warm the cooking oil in a deep frying pan. Fashion the bisuit dough into nice doughy blobs. Cut out doughnut holes with bottle cap. Place dough into pan then immediately begin to flip them over with a spatula or other flipping instrument of your choice. Once the dough is a light golden brown, remove them from the pan. If you want, pour a small amount of sugar into a ziplock bag, along with a doughnut and shake until doughnut is covered.

If you like glazed, you can slowly blend milk into confectioner's (also known as powdered) sugar until the right consistancy is reached. Use something like a whisk or electric mixer, for no lumps. Dip the hot doughnuts into glaze, let excess drain, and set aside until all are done... or eat 'em as you go! YUM.

I'm liking that National Fudge Day...

Absolutely! Me too... Jenna (my older daughter) is going to freak - she is the biggest fan of fudge that I know! :-)

Thanks for the list. It looks like we could have a full month of things to eat and enjoy according to the list. I'm looking forward to it.

We celebrated National donut day today! And our 16 month old daughter had her first bites of donut. :-) Since it is National dount day what are your favorite kinds of donuts? I like old fashioned glazed and white frosting with sprinkles!

I like the ones with white frosting and coconut. But my all time favorite is a Buttermilk Bar but they are hard to find here.

Well, I don't like coconut so I can't agree with you on that one. I always see the Buttermilk Bars where I live. Where do you live?

That's ok, my kids don't like coconut either so that means that it is always left for me. :) I live in Elko, Nevada.

We made gingerbread on the 5th. The kids had so much fun decorating and eating them. This was a first for us. I will post pictures in my album .

We are looking forward to National Clay week next week.

Does anyone have any special traditions for flag day? It's on the 14th...also my husband's birthday, so I want to do something fun with the family.

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
