I'm not a military wife but we have a son-in-law in the Navy and a son in DEP with a planned leave for bootcamp date of 07/23/09...my 43rd birthday. We also have another son looking into joining the Navy...he's testing next week. My daughter and three beautiful grandsons live in DC. Her husband was just stationed in VA.

We started off in Ft. Hood, Tx, (1988) then to Ft. Benning, Ga. My husband got called to recruiting duty and his first day of school was on 9/11. We then were sent to Provo, UT (2002) for only aout 8 months...long enough for our first son to be born. Then we were moved up to Montana(2002) where we have been for almost 6 years now. My husband has officially put in his retirement paperwork and we are heading back to Florida at the end of June. SO EXCITED!!! As I sit here watching the snow fall and not stop on this last day of March.

Heather... While we were stationed at Fort Hood, TX during my husband's deployment to Iraq, he was on a SPTT team and not with a unit that was deployed. So, our family didn't have the post support like those whose soldiers deployed with a unit. But, I found that my friends supported me very well. I'm sure that you'll find the same thing. Best of luck to you!

Hello out there. I joined OUAF while we were in Washington state. Now we are on shore duty in New York. Even though our family and friends are so many miles away, I am so thankful that we have OUAF to keep us close.

Hey, ladies! Looks like our days in the "civvie" world of recruiting are almost over. As soon as they find a replacement for my husband in his job, he will be heading with a MTT team to Iraq :( . I knew the day would come, and have to say that at least the girls and I will be staying put and I won't be uprooting them and my business. Wish us luck. I have never been away from a military post during a deployment, so this will be a completely different ball game!

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
