Family dinner has always been a big thing in my family. No matter how many activities we had going on, we almost always had family dinners together. I really try hard to make sure that we continue that tradition in my family now. It can be pretty di…

Well, unfortunately, there isn't a procrastinator personality on here...because if there was, I think I win! LOL! Really I actually read the book all the way through when I first got it back in October, but never answered the monthly questions. So,…

A little bit about me:
My name is Amanda Wildman and I am married to a wonderful man named Ponch. We have 2 energetic children, Morgan-6 and Tyler-2. We live in Michigan. have been blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom since Tyler was born 2 years ago, but just found Once Upon A Family in August of 2007. It has truly enhanced the way I interact with my family and loved ones! I am so blessed to have it and the ladies that I have met through it in my life!

My favorite childhood memory:
My favorite childhood memory is when we would sleep around the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. My brother's birthday is on Christmas Day and my mom never wanted him to feel jipped, so we didn't do much with Santa, but on Christmas Eve, we ordered out pizza, watched Christmas movies and then we got to open our gifts...they were from mom and dad. Then we rolled out the sleeping bags, read the Christmas story and slept under the lighted tree. The next day we celebrated my brother's birthday! This is still a tradition that I continue to this day with my family!
My favorite family tradition:
One year when I was about 10 years old, my mom had just made me the traditional family birthday cake. (Round, double layer cake with frosting in the middle...whatever kind we wanted for our day!) Well, she realized that she had forgotten to get candles...she was frantically looking everywhere! After a few minutes, we all just said..."Forget the candles...we want the cake!" Well, my mom was persistent...she emerged from the basement storage closet holding the UGLIEST red 12 inch taper candle that any of us had ever seen! She plopped it right in the center of the cake and lit it...now we could sing and eat cake. Well, that same candle is still in our family 20 years later and it is the same candle for everyone's birthday! It is really funny to see NEW family members reactions when we retrieve the "Family Birthday Candle"! The way we talk about it with such affection, you would think that it is the most beautiful candle ever, but it's not...it's the UGLY red taper candle that just symbolizes Birthday to our family!
My favorite family moment:
My favorite family moment is when I get to go camping all summer with my family! We have a seasonal campsite and are there for the WHOLE summer break!

My Pretty in Pink Cowboy!

Ok....I hope I'm not the only parent that does this, or my son will really want to kill me someday! My son has an older sister and maybe I'm too cheap...but I prefer frugal...and I kept my daughter's old sleeper pajamas and put them on my son now. I mean....really, he only… Continue

Our family Easter/Resurrection Tree!

Take a small branch, or even a simple tree and hand symbols of the Easter story on it to help teach your children the story of Easter.

Our tree has these symbols:

2-A small bottle of perfume for when Mary anointe… Continue

Well, hang in there. I bet that must be hard. Next month I will have been married for 8 years and I have never spent a night away from my huband so I can't imagine that. Our trip was good. We went to some caverns and a wedding and saw friends and family. It was very nice. How about you guys do you have a trip planned?

Hey!
It feels like forever since I have talked with you. My summer is pretty good. We kind of had a scare last night though and are still watching our daughter closely she has a moderate reaction to a vaccination she had yesterday. Her temp was 104.1 This morning it was 103.1 And tomorrow we leave for vacation to visit my parents so hopefully she will be ok. Please keep her in your prayers. Her name is Ashley and she is 18 months old. How is your summer going?

I LOVE wacky holidays! Always highlighted them in the middle school classes I taught & have great memories (and layouts!) based upon many... Just wanted to touch base w/someone I just might have a lot in common with. Am a rank OUAF newbie who will be in Grand Rapids later this year working a scrapbooking convention later this year (for a vendor/teaching workshops). Looking forward to getting to know you online & maybe in person if it's convenient.

Hey there Amanda, As the group leader of Christian Celebration you can send every member a message. A new consultnat named Christine asked a question, I happend to find it. I was thinking it would be a good idea to send the group a message asking everyone to come on and give 2 cents of info. I thought that would be fun to give Christine the support she is looking for. Hope you are having a nice long weekend.

Hey Amanda,
Thank you for the lovely Mothers Day greeting. Hope yours was also fun. My daughter and my boyfriend took me to breakfast on Pacific Coast Hwy (on the beach) and the restaurant gave free Champagne. It was very nice. Then my daughter bought me a movie I had been wanting, August Rush. Cute move. Talk to you soon Amanda.

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
