A little bit about me:
My name is Bethany and I'm 34 years old. I am married - happily for 5 years! I grew up in Flint, Michigan and am a proud Flintoid at heart. I am the youngest child of Richard & Sharon Noteboom. I have 3 other siblings - Bob, Bill, & Becky (now Rebecca) and they will in D.C., Dallas, and Denver, respectively. My husband, Dan, and I don't have any children but we do have 11 nieces and nephews so we're never short on "kid time" or stories. Dan & I are a couple of entrepreneurs at heart - always looking at taking a new adventure!
Family members – names/ages/interests:
My Husband, Dan, 43 - Apple Computer FREAK - loves new technology and travel.
My favorite childhood memory:
I have so many favorite childhood memories - but I would have to say some of the most memorable are taking nature walks with my parents and alot of the time with just my Dad. We would go to ForMar Nature Preserve and just walk all around looking for deer, turtles, different birds and other wildlife. I love critters and can spot them a mile away.
My favorite family tradition:
My favorite family traditions is centered around Christmas. I loved that we always went to grandma's house for family Christmas, especially because it was the one time of year that all the cousins were together. I've also found that our Santa traditions were pretty unique. At our house, Santa does wrap his presents. Christmas morning we would all come down and find our gifts from Santa all assembled as if on display with our stocking in the middle of our pile so we knew who's was who's. I also totally love the candy advent wreath - oh the candle one too.
My favorite family moment:
My favorite family moment has to be either dinners together every night or camping trips.

I've been busy with other things, too. So, I haven't been on HHC either. AH, yes, we've had a perfect winter - that is for us! It's been cool a lot with warm days in between. NO SNOW, though and I'm delighted for that. With the economy so sluggish, I've been really working hard to keep my businesses afloat and prosperous. WELL, prosperous is not the right word right now. Things are pretty gloomy and slow. On the other hand, it's made me stretch to reach new audiences and prospects. Been making some good headway in that area which means in the long run things will be a lot better as I'm adding new customers which has been my plan for awhile now. I need to add 10 new customers this year to my promotional products business. So, I've targeted a specific type of customer and am working on those 100 to find 10. At least with this business, when you put the work in, you get the results. I'm bummed out about OUAF right now. I just don't seem to be able to make anything happen in that business other than a few sales here and there. I can't find a niche that grows and expands no matter what I try! I thought I had it and it just all fell apart. I had the local Boys & Girls Clubs in our area agree to do a pilot project with us and I then went and gave my usual OUAF presentation to their staff and the response was a total flop. I have never seen anyone receive OUAF as they have. They were offended and even beligerent about everything I showed them. I am devastated about it as I really thought this was going to be the first step to bigger and better directions! Well, it's pretty late and I'm tired. So, I'll just say goodnight for now. I'm sure a cruise sounds like a wonderful idea to all of you in the cold country! It'll be great, I'm sure. Stay in touch. Hope your Easter was very special. Passover is in a few weeks and that will be special for our family at this time of year. With my very best to you and Dan, too, Leta

Hi, Bethany, I just "got it"! I was trying so hard to connect you from FR and you just popped into my head! I remember you very fondly, too, from FR. You won the wedding box which was so cool! Well, I'm glad to hear you are doing well and are happy. I think MOST people in OUAF are "casual consultants" - so don't feel bad or attach any negativity to that comment. It's NOT easy to make this fly as anything but a casual consultant, I feel. I'm working a different track because I have my heart set on this being a career consultant opportunity. NOT sure I'll live to see that day, but it won't be because I haven't tried! I dragged Lorle to a conference in VA this past NOV. for the Character Education Forum which focuses on character ed in the public sector. IT WAS fabulous! The attendees were so excited about OUAF. So, I've been working on that track, slowly. I don't have a lot of time, either, because I have another full-time business that is my livelihood. I sell promotional products to companies and orgs. I've been doing this for 20 years and I do love it, too. Anyway, the latest good news is that I'm working with Boys & Girls Club here in FL to try and pilot a program with them around OUAF products to use in their clubs to build character in their youth members. It's a BIG opportunity IF we can make it work. We had our first meeting last week to present OUAF to the staff of their local clubs. Their CEO and VP of OPS are totally committed to doing this pilot with me. HOWEVER, after that meeting last week, I see a few stumbling blocks which I wonder if we'll get past. The kids who come to BGC really need OUAF but they are NOT even close to an OUAF life. It will be interesting to see if we can even make it relevant to these kids and families. So, I'll have to keep you posted on this one. I'm also working with Headstart to see if we can do a pilot with them. They are very interested, but NOT very competent in this area of values. Their staff are totally "out of it" on this topic and so they really have the interest but no commitment. I have to say that I have now presented to 4 MOPS groups since FR and while they LOVE OUAF, I have not seen one penny from any of these opportunities. I find Celebrations to be dismal, time consuming and totally unprofitable. I believe one day I'll get this school/non-profit marketing strategy successful IF I stick with it - just not sure how much time, effort and commitment I have to doing this. It seems like such an uphill battle. I've been in OUAF for over 2 years now and it just keeps costing money without a growing return. Otherwise, my life is going well. My daughter is doing well and growing up very nicely since she graduated college in May 2006. I wondered for awhile if that would ever be a reality. She has totally embraced OUAF in the last 3 months which has been interesting. That does encourage me to see how it's now gaining traction with her. I'm real sorry to hear you won't be at FR this summer. Hope things change and you can come. Thanks again for contacting me on HHC. It's funny, you are the ONLY consultant from FR who has contacted me - other than the ones I knew before. I've made a few friends over the Angels network that Sally has but outside of her group, I don't have much contact. That is why HHC is definitely good. Got to hit the sack for now. Take care. Keep in touch. Hugs to you. I agree with someone else's comment about the lovely picture of you and your hubby that you have posted!

Hi, Bethany, Thanks for your note. I AM doing well. Plugging away at OUAF and trying to make it work. It is NOT easy, that is for sure. I do well at presenting but GETTING places to present is a challenge! Have done about 5 MOPS presentations this year - VERY disappointing. They loved the presentation and I NEVER get any follow on sales! What's working for you? Going to reunion this year??? I am.

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
