Hi Christa,
I'm Trish in Customer Service at OUAF and I'm glad to see you on our HHC site. I enjoy seeing all of our Consultants and reading their profiles. Very cute picture. I too lost a brother. He was hit by a drunk driver when he was only 21 and I was about 8. He was in the Navy in San Diego and he was the oldest and I am the youngest of 6. So I only have a few memories of him. But they are sweet ones. Gotta get back to work now. Talk to you later. ;-)

Hey Christa,
Best of luck on that Celebration. Maybe you've already had it. I'm embarassed to tell you how long I've been with the company. I'm probably one of the first consultants and haven't yet sponsored anyone. I've just been busy having babies and now just taking care of them. Went through IVF for all 3 and it just consumed me. Was hard to think of running a business. What an awesome opportunity you have out there though. What area are you in? I lived in Vestavia Hills and graduated from high school there. Still have a few friends there that I keep up with. Don't get back often enough though. I do miss it from time to time. Fortunately both of my sisters now live out here and my parents are planning a move this year from Louisville. FYI...we were Jan, Julie & Jill Johnson when we were there. We all still have lots of friends there. What a great place to grow up and to raise a family. I'm sure you love it. Loved hearing from you. Drop me a line again sometime and let me know how that celebration goes. Good Luck!!

Profile Information

A little bit about me:
I've been married for 8 years with four awesome kids! I recently became a Once Upon a Family consultant and am really excited to get my business up and running! Its been slow, but I will persevere! I believe in the message behind it and hope to share it with everyone I know!
Family members – names/ages/interests:
Michael - almost 40 - hunting, camping, fishing
Jessica - 14 - The Jonas Brothers, tennis, scrapbooking, Youth (at church)
Sean - almost 14 - guitar, music, Alabama Crimson Tide football, Miami Dolphins, and an NFL junkie
Logan - 12 - drawing, guitar, music, video games, and more recently, track
Janie - 4 - horses, baby dolls, dancing, chocolate milk, macaroni & cheese, and just jelly sandwiches
My favorite childhood memory:
The short time that I spent with my brother who died in a car wreck in 1981 at age 15 (I was 10). Because I was so young, I can't recall a lot of times with him, but I remember the admiration and pride I felt because I knew he was a special person - even at the tender age of 15.
My favorite family tradition:
Getting together with my mother's family on Christmas Eve. Now, most everyone has passed and there is only a handful of us left, but each year, I try to get everyone together still. It isn't the same, but I hope that my children will remember these times as fondly as I remember the years past.
My favorite family moment:
Road trips. We're all stuck inside a car together for hours and the mood is usually light and playful (except maybe the ride home).

The Voice

My twelve-year-old son is at that vulnerable age – smack-dab between boyhood and manhood. I can only imagine that’s a very confusing place to be. A pattern seems to have developed in recent months in which my son will act out, get into trouble, and then unload a lot of self-doubt and self-pity, resulting in lengthy talks between him and me. In a recent talk we had, he posed some tough questions about himself, about life, and about God. He expressed serious doubts and I struggled to find words th… Continue

The Treasure Chest

Isaiah 33:6 “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” (NIV).

On the way to kindergarten one morning, my daughter said to me, “I hope that little girl is ok today.” I watched her through the rearview mirror as she told me about her friend who had a minor, but scary, accident at school the previous day and had to get stitches in her cheek. Afterward, the look on my daughter’s five-year-old… Continue

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
