A little bit about me:
Spiritual, caring, and friendly stay-at-home mom; who enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and moments with family; who loves Once Upon a Family and being a consultant; who is happily married for 15 years to an incredible husband and father, with two amazing daughters!
Family members – names/ages/interests:
Wonderful husband and devoted dad; hard-working, kind, and generous provider, who is witty, joyful, and full of life; who loves sports, being with his family, and any activity that takes him outdoors.

Theresa - conscientious, and responsible self-starter, who is scholarly, independent, and thoughtful; who loves volleyball, friends, and shopping!

Anna - fun-loving, and joy-filled free spirit, who is smart, compassionate and giving, who enjoys volleyball, choir, friends, and family games!
My favorite childhood memory:
One of my favorite memories from growing up is the fun tradition my mother did on Valentine’s Day. Every year, she’d set the dinner table with whimsical valentine décor, and make a special dinner. Now “special” can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but in our case, it could mean something like heart-shaped meatloaf, with mashed potatoes, and heart-shaped jello. As kids, we were thrilled! The best part of the table though, was the wrapped gift beside each of our plates. It was always a book—a very dear gift to me as I love to read! Of course you know, that I’ve continued this beautiful tradition on today with my own family of 4. The difference though is that my husband loves to cook, and many times our “special” dinner is be gourmet!
My favorite family tradition:
Well, of course my family has many traditions, but I think my favorite is one that my husband and I accidentally started before we were even married! It was Christmas time one year and Andy (my boyfriend then) helped me pick out a beautiful tree for my apartment. While we decorated it, we decided to order a pizza to be delivered.

That particular year, oh so long ago, a certain pizza place had a mascot they used for many of their advertising campaigns—the “Pizza Pizza Man”. The promotion at the time was a stuffed little “Pizza Pizza Man” tree ornament—not particularly my taste in ornaments though! Naturally, my fun-loving boyfriend proudly displayed it at the very top of my tree in place of the angel! Of course, this did not suit me, so I suggested we hang him on the back of the tree. He seemed satisfied at the time. Well to my surprise, during the course of the next couple of weeks, I found this whimsical little ornament in the most unexpected places around the apartment!

For 16 years since then, the Pizza Pizza Man has been a source of laughter and fun. As our family decorates the tree, the first person to find him, secretly hides him somewhere around the house. We’ve all enjoyed finding him in odd places like the center of my curio cabinet, wrapped up in a pair of socks and tucked neatly in a drawer, or sitting proudly by the milk in the refrigerator! It’s always sad to take down the decorations after New Year’s Day, and put our little family addition away until the next year!
My favorite family moment:
Christmas Day from beginning to end—watching our girls delight in opening gifts, seeing their joy when we open ours, playing new games from Santa with each other during the day, and simply relaxing with no pressures or responsibilities with the outside world!

Deanna,
When the time comes for them to leave the nest, you'll all be ready. You just kind of go on to the next phase and it's still good...just different. So just enjoy it all now, and then enjoy it all later, too :)

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
