Happy Mother's Day

I'm glad someone else has crazy traditions too! LOL! My mom would say...see, I'm not the only one! Anyway, I put the music on my site in with a video clip and if you want to do that, you just go to slide.com to make your own. If you want to put a song list on here...I'm pretty sure you can do that under their "gadgets" up at the top of the page. If you need any help, let me know and thanks for visiting my page.

What a great looking family!!

Profile Information

A little bit about me:
I'm a working Mom. And yes, I'd love to spend every waking moment with husband and kids but we try instead to make every minute count that we are together. I'm a little bit on the quiet/reserved side but LOVE to bust out and have a great time with good friends and family. My favorites are the beach, Fricano's Pizza, a great sunset, Chicago White Sox, Hoosier basketball, Dream On by Aerosmith, sitting by a warm fire, pedicures, board games, and an occasional margarita.
Family members – names/ages/interests:
My husband is a police officer, high school cross country and basketball coach and avid fan of the game. He also loves poker night with the guys.
I have two boys--age 9 and 5. My 9 yr old is a born athlete and gym rat. Is loving his Nintendo DS right now. My 5 yr old loves Spiderman, soccer, baseball, board games and hanging at the gym with "Daddy's guys" (the high school team)
Rescue: age 5. Very furry, four-legged, wet nosed, 100 lb. golden retriever that is constantly "retrieving" things around the house!
My favorite childhood memory:
The many vacations spent in northern Michigan--tent camping at DH Day Campground with my parents and 5 siblings along with Aunt Ivy and Uncle Hank and their 6 kids, waterskiing on Glen Lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Dad's bread and bacon sandwiches. Get this--Dad would fire up the Coleman stove, fry up some bacon, dip Wonder white bread in the bacon grease and serve as a sandwich with the cooked bacon!
My favorite family tradition:
Celebrating birthdays. We try to go all out in making that person feel really special on their birthday.
My favorite family moment:
Just being together with EVERYONE in a good mood and having a good time.

What's in your mp3 player?

I'm so out of it. I JUST got an mp3 player about a month ago. And, because I'm a technical jinx, I stuck with a simple mp3 player--no ipod yet. Anyway, I was running with it yesterday and got to thinking about the music that people put on their mp3 players and why. I'm still building my library of songs but found some great ones to run to. For no particular reason, one day I'd downloaded Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves by Cher. (I'm SO dating myself) I caught myself singing along to every word of th… Continue

Vacation!

Just finalized plans to Charleston, SC for a long spring break weekend vacation. Haven't been on vacation in over 5 years and we've never vacationed with the boys. I'm really looking forward to it. Had some trouble with flight planning so we, the family that hates to drive anywhere more than 3 hours, are going to drive the 13 some odd hours to Charleston. We're going to make it an adventure! I have family and good friends in Charleston--and after seeing it as one of the top cities in the US on t… Continue

Thought to ponder

I'm in training to run the Indianapolis Mini-marathon in May. It'll be quite an accomplishment for me and I'm really looking forward to it. I consider myself to be athletic but really need to be "coached." I ENVY those people who can motivate themselves to get out there and train. I've been very lucky to hook up with a great group of women who run together on Sat. mornings. This morning, unfortunately, only one other runner showed up--an unheard of occurance--and it was someone I didn't know. ug… Continue

Did Paula Rock?

Now that all the audition episodes are over, it's refreshing to get back to the weekly performances on AI. LOVED the Paula video that premiered on last night's show. Saw the ladies perform on Wed. but missed the guys on Tuesday. I'll have to check that out next week and come up with a few season favorites and not-so favorites.
Gearing up for another busy week with basketball games and the boys' sectional starts this Tuesday. Anyone familiar with Indiana basketball knows what's at stake here! It'… Continue

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
