Thanks! I'm still trying to get my bearings here...but it's fun!

Profile Information

A little bit about me:
I am married to the love of my life and we have two wonderful children. I work from home as a healing coach, helping people heal themselves and their families. I'm also part of a rotating group of Sunday School facilitators at church and I love my church!!

In addition to Wednesday night suppers and other church get-togethers, my wife/partner, Shelly and I like to watch movies, order pizza, have pancakes for breakfast, go out to eat pasta and take walks in the fresh air (guess we better since we love to eat so much :)).
Family members – names/ages/interests:
Taylor: our 13-year-old daughter who wants to be the next CSI specialist and plays basketball for her school

Jonathan: our 7-year-old son who is homeschooled and enjoys writing short stories and creating plays.
My favorite childhood memory:
Walking on the beach during family vacations, singing alone in the living room using a brush as my microphone, taking jazz dance lessons at Maxine Patterson's school of dance and eating pancakes on Christmas Day.
My favorite family tradition:
Pancakes for Christmas, going out to eat for special occasions.
My favorite family moment:
Sitting next to my wife at the beach while the kids were splashing in the water.

Welcome to My Happy Home Page!

I'm so excited to have this club as a way to celebrate all our wonderful families!!

I created a group for other families that are homeschooling or unschooling, so if that is a fit for you, join and say hello.

Thanks for dropping by! :)

Healing Rejection

Something unusual happened today. I was taking a walk with my son, across the dirt and under the trees, and when we got to the one we think of as the "love" tree, I didn't feel much love. I didn't feel much of anything!

Now, I've not been feeling well these past few days. But taking a walk outside almost always makes me feel better!

I realized that I was feeling sad and began to wonder why. Watching the Oscars made me sad, again, about Heath, but I was aware that that wasn't it, there was more… Continue

"Music Simply Overtakes Me"

At the end of our day, Jonathan and I sometimes watch "Little Bear" on Noggin, and he loves one of the "commercials" where someone (a character whose name I do not know) sings a whole song about music. Jonathan invariably sings along and I love to watch him, especially when he gets to the line "music simply overtakes me"! He adds a little Satchmo-style with jazz hands and quite the increase in volume.

This morning, he decided to write a song based on yesterday's social graces lesson on "magic w… Continue

Touching Earth

Another great homeschooling day, although I am still recovering from sitting next to someone with pets during the scrapbooking crop Saturday afternoon.

In the middle of our day, I had a break, for a meeting. The group of us who take turns facilitating Sunday School at church had a meeting this morning. We need to choose a focus for the next few months, but half of us weren't there so we put off making a final decision until next week.

Then, Jonathan had ballroom dance class, followed by social… Continue

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
