I love to write letters, so I decided to take this challenge to send love to people who I've been wanting to tell how much I love and appreciate them. I spent an entire afternoon writing and stamping envelopes. Above is a picture of the first roun…
This was a good challenge for this month...I needed the prompt to follow up on this. It has been a year since I gave all my aunts, uncles, parents, and inlaws a Family Tree Booklet to fill out. I only received back 3 of them over the last year. So…
We have so many traditions that the only hard part about this challenge is choosing only one tradition per month and one to talk about it detail LOL!

Family Fun Night is what finally won my husband over from being skeptical about Once Upon A Family. We had always done something together as a family each weekend in our family already, so he thought it was stupid to go through the hassle of putting…
Dinner conversations can be hard in my house. Since last spring when the Live Laugh Love Club Activity was the "Joy Game," we have been using that as our dinner conversation starter. My kids are 4 and 2, so it isn't easy to have complicated conversa…
I have been doing the Challenge all along, but just have not had time to post until now.
I actually took the Happy Home Test when I met Lorle at her book tour when she was here in town. I didn't need to take the test though - I knew how it would co…

This is a nice site. Thanks for telling me about it. I enjoyed reading about your traditions of Pie Day and the 4th of July. Congrats on winning the contest!
I love the picture of you and your children. Beautiful! It was great meeting you at reunion. Thanks for driving for lunch & dinner. I hope we see each other again. BJ
Hi Karen,
Congratulations on winning the Independence Day story contest. I have to say Karen it was very moving and the end made me drop a tear. Great tradition, and the longevity is very impressive. Thank you for sharing.

Profile Information
A little bit about me:
I am an at-home Mom of two kids. I have lived in Texas for 12 years but grew up in New Orleans. I love to cook and bake for my family and friends. For the last year I am really enjoying being an independent consultant with Once Upon A Family.
Family members – names/ages/interests:
My husband, Joey, is 39. He loves fishing, hunting, racecars, and woodworking.
My 4 year old daughter, Kira, loves Disney Princesses, dancing, and Scooby-Doo.
My 2 year old son, Evan, loves to keep up with his big sister. He loves dogs and Thomas the Train.
My favorite childhood memory:
There are many wonderful childhood memories, but Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's house is a favorite. The kids sat at a folding table in the living room and we got to drink a sip of champagne out of those plastic champagne glasses. Grandma was an excellent cook and if you got a small spoonful of everything she cooked, you had a mountain on your plate.
My favorite family tradition:
My favorite family tradition, unique to my family, is Pie Day on January 26. When I was a kid, it was a fight each night to get my 4 siblings and I to eat the healthy dinners my Mom cooked. My Dad, who worked really hard so my Mom could be an at-home Mom, came home exhausted one night carrying something unusual. He told my Mom he didn't have the energy for the dinner fight and said we were eating pie for dinner. We all jumped for joy and a family holiday was born. Now that my siblings and I have kids of our own, we continue the Pie Day tradition and call each other to find out what pie each of us are having for dinner. This year, I made a chocolate pie and a buttermilk pie.
My favorite family moment:
The day my husband and I brought home our daughter from the hospital, we placed her car carrier in the middle of the living room. My huband and I just looked at each other, hugged while leaning over our new baby, and we started crying tears of joy because our long journey of starting our family was over. We were now a family.
