Profile Information

A little bit about me:
I am married to my College sweetheart since Aug. of 1996. We have a daughter born on 2-7-03 and a son born on 8-22-04. I have a passion for encouraging others in their faith walk and family life. My favorite day would be breakfast in bed served to me by my husband, a morning of a little bit of shopping for clothes and a trip to the nail salon, having lunch with the family at a REALLY NICE sea food restaurant, an afternoon at the beach (hot with a cool breeze), Bar-B-Q dinner with good friends, playing board games all afternoon and then getting a baby sitter after the kids go to sleep and driving into L.A. with my husband to see the latest touring theatre production, preferably a musical. I've never had this day, but if even one of these things happen in a day then I am quite satisfied!
Family members – names/ages/interests:
My husband Farhad/ 9 months younger then me/ Golfing
My daughter Shirin/ 5/ Karate, any competitive sport, games and parties
My son Frederick/ 4/ Playing with cars, Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland
My favorite childhood memory:
Just ONE great memory? OK. Puting on "shows" with my brother and sisters. We would rehearse and my brother would take care of lighting before the curtain went up. Just to slip in another great memory here: Caring for my pets. My birds, dogs, cats, my rat and I loved it when I would help my cat have her kittens. I loved the pets I had throughout my childhood.
My favorite family tradition:
For Halloween we dress up as a family. It is fun to see what we come up with each year. My husband and I did this before we had our kiddos. Since we have had them we have been farmers with our calf, bugs and a bug catcher, football players and cheer leaders and most recently we were the Incredibles. Shirin is already putting in her request for Peter Pan for next year.
My favorite family moment:
On the day we were coming home from the hospital after my sons surgery, February 2, 2008, Farhad came with Shirin. It was one of those moments that I wish we had a camera on. I had just gotten Frederick dressed and he was shaky but standing up. Frederick heard Shirin coming and a smile came across his face, huge and vibrent. Shirin came in and as we all said Hi Shirin and Frederick eyes locked. Shirin walked straight up to him and held his sholders and said, "Hi Frederick! I missed you!" And Frederick said, "Yes." He placed his head on her chest and they hugged for a long time. Farhad and I just staired. We did not have to do a thing for this meeting to be as special as it was. All the times I have worked for them to "share" and "work as a team" and "you are best friends" and so on. And in this moment their relationship stood on its own. No guiding by us parents needed to happen. They smiled, I have NEVER seen an outward appearance of their love for each other in that way. And again Shirin is a vital part of Fredericks life. She stands as the best big sister the world has seen.

Easter was extra special this year!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays, and not becasue I just LOVE egg salad sandwiches for the entire next week. It is one of our favorites becasue our family celebrates things that are a BIG DEAL and do things that are also FUN! We went to Church in the morning and our Easter service was awesome. We actually held it in a park overlooking the ocean with over 1000 in attendance. As a church congregation we had pledged to give $500,000 to World Impact to build a Christian youth center in the hear… Continue

Curious George

This Sunday we are having a huge Curious George party. Sounds funny writing that since my daughter turned 5 on Feb. 7 and my son turned 3 on Aug. 22 and this Saturday is March 9. Yea I’ve heard about time flying like that. I wanted to get caught up on their birthday books and the reality of this year just hit me like a ton of bricks. My son has had to be in and out of the hospital the past 7 months or so and now both are a year older (yikes!). I realized that I didn’t have a party to record. Thi… Continue

I don't think we know each other - what was your maiden name. I do not know you by your married name.

I will be sure to let everyone know when I test in the next week. We sure made a valiant effort while in St.Louis at the YTB National Convention, with my mother and Reid on the sleeper sofa folded out touching our bed, Macy and Holly on the floor beside our bed, Clark on the floor behind the sofa and Miles in the port-a-crib about 4 feet away. That's what I call adventure. Ovulation can not be timed based on our travel schedule. ha ha ha. It was great to see you. Cj

Hey Michelle, I was so disappointed to not attend reunion. It's nice to hear that I was missed. We had a good, but hectic summer. Now that my boys have gone back to school, I'm coming up to breathe. How's your son? I think and pray for you often. God bless.

Hi Michelle, I didn't get the chance to tell you at Reunion, but I listened to the COTS calls during my drive to KY. I enjoyed the content. I only had the April and July calls that someone forwarded to me. I would love to know about your future calls. BJ Goodwin

Hi Friend! Oh, I did miss going to FR but it couldn't be helped this year. I loved seeing some of the pictures from Jennifer's blog. The bed incident cracked me up! How is your dear family. I continue to pray for your son. I would definitely love to meet up. With the economy it might have to wait another year. We are busy with school back and I have 3 full time daycare and 2 part time (plus my little one). Some days I'm just so thankful for an hour of peace at nap time. God Bless!

Thank you Michelle! I missed all of you terribly!! I was so honored by the KEY award! :) And YOU totally deserved the Pioneering Spirit Award!! Your passion is so evident...and your love for Christ too! Hey, I am starting a new LLL type program at my church this fall called "MATCH - Mothers Activity Teaching Character at Home." I'll send you the details as they are developed. I can totally see you loving it!!! Blessings to you and your family. How are the kids? How is your little guy doing? Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Losing Grandpa was a huge loss for our family. He was a truly wonderful, Christian man...who left a legacy beyond explanation. Grandma and Grandpa had just celebrated their 70th anniversary! Amazing! Talk to you soon.... Holly

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
