HI SALLY!!!!!

So, I have a new, fun, OUaF gig. happyhome Moderator. I was surprised to see your name of all people :) to not have done the happy home challenge! Now, I know you have lots of things you do with your family that would fit beautifully into each challenge. So check out the Fall Challenge that just started and join in! I would love to read your comments and get some new ideas for my family. I hope you are doing well and that I hear from you soon.

This season, the Hero Kit is made up of $150 in OUAF products of your choice! If you have any questions about getting started with the Challenge, let me know - I'm here to help.

Feel free to invite your friends to join you during the Challenge - sometimes it helps to have someone trying new things right alongside you.

Talk to you soon:)

Hey Sally -

Good to hear from you. Unfortunately I can not make it to Dallas this year. Family is coming from Georgia that weekend too. Just wish I could be in both places.

I hope you have a great time. I am sure Becky will keep me posted on what happens but it is not the same as being there. :)

Take Care,

Melonie

Profile Information

A little bit about me:
I live in Austin, Texas and own 4 children's clothing stores and www.bestdressedkids.com with my husband. I have two young adult children who live nearby. i'm an Honorary Founder of Once Upon a Family, and a licensee with The Joy of Connecting. My passions are friendships, relationships, connections, and, of course, kid's fashion.
Family members – names/ages/interests:
Marc, husband of 3 decades! Partner in business as well. Marc is also a CPA and takes care of all the business aspects of our stores and website. We love to travel and hang out with friends and family.

Lauren, my daughter, is 27 and is a Physical Therapist at a pediatric clinic in Austin. She is a beautiful, talented, and intelligent young woman who is a joy to all she meets.

Shawn, my son, is 25 years old and is a 5th grade teacher. He is so adorable and sensitive, loves kids, and will be an amazing husband and father! He looks for the good in everyone and is a peacemaker.
My favorite childhood memory:
On Christmas eve every year, my family and my father's 7 brothers and sisters and their families would meet at my aunt and uncle's farm a few miles from where we lived in Massachusetts. We would eat delicious holiday food, sing Christmas carols, run around with dozens of cousins, and just plain have fun. The highlight of the evening was when my uncle would hitch a horse up to a sleigh, and we would take turns sleigh riding through the snowy woods...singing and looking for Santa's sleigh up in the sky. When we retunred, we'd cozy up next t o the fireplace and drink cocoa that we stirred with peppermint sticks.
My favorite family tradition:
There are many from my childhood and my children's, as well but right now I love the fact that Sunday night is family dinner night. It's a night where we all come together and talk about our past week, the one ahead of us, and just generally spend quality time together. We often use our conversation starters and always honor each other with the candle of honor if it's a birthday or a special holiday or occasion. We have become very comfortable in dishing out compliments to each other!
My favorite family moment:
Recently, the four of us wrote down and then talked about our dreams and goals, both personally and professionally. My husband and I had one of those GREAT moments together when our son announced that if he could find the right girl, settle down, and have a home life half as good as the one he grew up in, he would consider himself a lucky man. Oh, our hearts just sang!

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
