A little bit about me:
I’m from Bend, Oregon originally but I grew up and attended school in San Diego, California and now live in Orange County, California. I moved back to Bend when my daughter was 5 years old and we had many wonderful years camping, water skiing, hiking and just enjoying all outdoors activities with my husband, sister and her two children, my brother, father and extended family members. Oregon is a beautiful place to live and have fun. We owned a large house with several acres in which we had several flower gardens, a very large vegetable garden and we also had a horse, chickens and we raised pigs. My daughter enjoys horseback riding and belonged to 4H. She did most of her riding in Dressage competitions. She is now learning to surf and has fallen in love with the California beaches. I enjoy growing plants, water skiing, and doing different crafts such as sewing, crocheting and working with leather and beads.
Family members – names/ages/interests:
My father is 93 years old and is the greatest person I have ever met. I feel so blessed and I love him so much. He re-married 6 years ago after being single since 1965. My new mothers name is Peggy. I have an older sister, Mary whom lives together with her daughter, Cara. Cara has two children, Krissy who just turned 18 and Zach who is 10. I have an older brother, Fred whom has two grown daughters, Belinda and Sonia who are both married and have made him a grandfather. And there is my daughter, Kinder who has two very beautiful daughters, Alexandra 13 and Sierra who is 5.
My favorite childhood memory:
I feel very blessed with so many wonderful childhood memories that were generated from growing up in Ocean Beach and living one house away from the beach. That’s where you would find me every day. Summers are always the best.
My favorite family tradition:
As a child we were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. Thanksgiving was always a big deal. This is when the whole family would get together. It always felt like there were 50 people at the table. Mom made Easter special. She was a seamstress and she would make us beautiful silk lavender dresses with full slips under them. We had hats, purses, gloves and socks to match, and new patent leather shoes to go with them. We were all just to cute! I always felt special at Easter Mass. St Patrick’s Day always included Corn Beef and Cabbage.mmm. On our birthdays my mother always bought each of us a gift and of course several for the birthday person.
My favorite family moment:
When my husband and I created our own family with the birth of our daughter.

We are living in Prineville, about 45 min from Bend. We lived in Bend for many years but after a short stint in Alaska we are back in Prineville which is where we both grew up. It is wonderful to be back in Oregon!!

I am, yes (the 2520 address).

I just told Jonathan and he jumped up and down and screamed with excitement! :)

But when we went to look up what the family activities planner is, we couldn't find it on the website. It's not the same thing as the family celebrations planner, is it?

No Nag Nirvana

Yes, wouldn’t that be like heaven? You walk around the house and without saying a word, backpacks, toys and clothes are picked up…dishes are cleared off the table and towels are hung back on the towel rack. Dirty clothes actually go into the dirty clothes basket and you no longer walk into the kitchen to [...]

The Power of Unexpected Kindness

The idea of Door Knob Drops came from my sister, Teri, who lives with her two boys in Moraga, California. One year there were several kids on their street that were graduating from some school or another; sixth grade, eighth grade or twelfth grade. Teri and her boys put together some very simple treats with [...]

What Would You Do?

Last night my boys, Dylan and Travis, were helping me cut out Bingo Boards and put together Bingo Button sacks. It was really late and I was trying to get everything photographed for this first Five in One Family Fun email. Normally they go to bed by 9:15 but it was 9:30 and I hadn’t [...]
